It is located directly on the marina with views over the harbor and the Lauwersmeer. With infrared Sauna. There is a conservatory, a sailor bar, 2 bathrooms, a washing machine, a dryer and internet. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
"Capitein Theis" was extensively renovated in November 2020 and has four bedrooms with double beds each with 2 mattresses, which are 180 cm long. A bathroom with a whirlpool bathtub and a shower, and another small bathroom with a shower and toilet. The living area is comfortably furnished and has a large couch and a 60 “tv. Two large doors offer a great view of the harbor and access to the terrace. You immediately feel at home. In November 2020 we built in a large kitchen with a dishwasher, a large fridge with a freezer compartment, and a small oven. The washing machine and the dryer are in the bathroom. It is one of the largest holiday homes in the area with a private bar and infrared sauna. It has a rustic and naval style. The house also has a spacious winter garden. A parking lot is available. The house is on the bank and direct access to the water is possible. The view of the marina is captivating, regardless of the season and any weather. Whether you experience a sunrise in summer or in the frozen Lauwersmeer in winter, or at the East wind, the waves break on the shore – there will definitely be unforgettable impressions that you will take home with you. The terrace is rounded off with a brick fireplace. There is fast internet.

Oostmahorn is an old stronghold at the at the western side of the Lauwerslake with a rich history, dating back to the sixteenth century. Nowadays it’s a very pleasant tourist destination at the National Park Lauwersmeer, hosting several holiday resorts.
The lake itself and the direct surroundings are a true paradise for nature lovers, fisherman, water sports enthusiasts, cyclists and hikers. Dogs are more than welcome here as well. There’s a special beach and a forest for them at Lauwersoog.
Within a couple of hundreds of meters there are several playgrounds for children. At the beach, in the small resort ‘De Skâns’ and in Esonstad - which is a holiday resort build as a replica of a typical old Frysian city. In Esonstad you’ll even find a bouncy castle and an indoor playing hall and one can play golf and foot golf here at the local Pitch & Putt area. Renting a bicycle or e-chopper is also possible here.
In Esonstad you can easily do your daily groceries (a bigger supermarkt is just a couple of kilometers away in Anjum) or find a restaurant, pizzeria or a snackbar.
Another three restaurants are even closer to your holiday house. Some of them offer spectacular lake views. Other good options to enjoy the local seafood cuisine are the sea harbor of Lauwersoog at the northern side of the lake, the old fishing village of Zoutkamp at the eastside of the lake or at Dokkum, the most northern fortified city of Friesland.
To discover the National Park from the waterside you could bring your own boat or surf gear but there are boats and sailing boats for rent as well at ‘Paviljoen La Barca’. If you’re more into cat sailing, try the local cat-club ‘Omaho’, next to the small marina.
A boat-tour, sailing trip to Dokkum, bird or seal expedition can be booked around the corner and a ferry to the beautiful island of Schiermonnikoog, with it’s many miles of sandy beaches, is leaving from Oostmahorn as well.
The Lauwerslake (Lauwersmeer in dutch) is truly loved by fishermen for its large bream, roach, pike, perch and eel. At the reception of Holland1 you can obtain a fishing permit.
Do you like to walk and do you want to relax? Then visit the fishing village of Paesens-Moddergat with its small museum and experience the Wadden Sea World Heritage with its largest unbroken system of intertidal sand and mud flats in the world. Hiking over the mudflats of the Wadden Sea certainly is one of the most memorable activities in the Netherlands. Guided tours can be booked here every day of the year.
Or just stay and enjoy yourself at your holiday house. Just don’t forget to look up at the universe on a clear night. With the title Dark Sky Park, Lauwersmeer National Park is one of the world’s darkest places. Here, you can truly experience nature in the dark!
